June 2-3, 2020

From the “epi-centre” of data gathering to “epic” dissemination

In the face of emerging diseases, outbreaks of known diseases and projected causal relationships, the story of who, what, when and where is often told first without data. Surveillance data provides the evidence base needed to inform action.

Two full days of oral and poster presentations will include presentations from invited speakers as outlined on the preliminary agenda:

The annual CAVEPM conference will be hosted by the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) on the beautiful University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon, Sask.

Registration fee (until Early Bird Deadline of Saturday April 18, 2020):

  • Regular: $250
  • Student: $200
  • Single day: $150


In addition to the two-day CAVEPM conference (June 2-3), the following workshops will be offered:

“Fundamentals of Surveillance”

  • One-day pre-conference workshop, June 1, 2020.
  • Cost: $100 (Regular); $50 (Students)
This one day workshop will introduce participants to some key concepts for conducting surveillance in animal or human populations, including basic definitions, attributes of surveillance systems, and evaluation of surveillance systems.


“Supercharging Epidemiology with IT”

  • Three-day post-conference workshop, June 4-6, 2020
  • Cost: $900 (Regular); $700 (Student)
This 2.5 day workshop will provide an overview of how IT can support epidemiological activities from data collection to interactive data visualizations on the web. You will build your capability to collect and use data to inform decisions and communicate data-driven outputs with different stakeholder groups.


Both workshops will be highly interactive.
